Top of Trees
This photo was taken in a forest near a park in Ann Arbor. I was walking around this park for a while looking for something to photograph but nothing seemed to work. I decided to walk into this forest, but everything looked very bland. So I looked up, and saw a great display of branches and even some birds. This photo is supposed to portray something that is chaotic but still has a calming feel to it.
Log
I took a photo of this log in a forest near a creek. I went to this creek thinking that photos of the water would be interesting, however the creek was slushy and not visually pleasing. I had to find another option, and I found it with this log. I found a log slightly sticking out of the leaves giving it a cool affect. I see this image as having a certain mystery to it. What's inside? Was it once a large tree? A lot of questions coming from this one log.
Sunset with trees
I took this photo in the same forest as the log, which was technically against the guidelines but sometimes you have to go outside the box for a great photo. I was about to leave this forest to go somewhere else to take photos, when the sun started to go down. It started to set at just the right point, right under a slight rise in the ground and behind a couple trees. Some might say the trees take away from the main part of the image, but I think it adds a sense of environment that isn't there in other sun set photos.
Crossed Trees
I took this photo in a forest right near a highway. Some people may not think that a small forest near a major road would be a good idea, however I knew I could find something interesting. I saw two trees surprisingly close in size and look, I thought that this picture might be interesting in showing the natural surprisingly that can be created with nature. also once I looked at the photo I noticed two conveniently placed trees crossed right in the middle of the two other trees.
Stump
I took this photo in the Skyline forest. I went into the forest hoping to find a bright vibrant tree or berry that would contrast well with the dead plants around it. However once I got farther into the forest I realized that this might be difficult, then I found this stump. It wasn't very vibrant and didn't stand out very much, but I thought that it worked so well. It captured the essence of this dead environment showing the climate of the warm dead January very well.
